New Orleans Bounce Music Festival

If you’re a millennial native of New Orleans, you grew up listening to Bounce music and attending neighborhood block parties or “DJs”. As an adult we see how Bounce music, which was once seen as taboo, has become more mainstream and nationally recognized. Although to some new listeners Bounce music is just a trend, we are a part of a generation that doesn’t remember a time when Bounce music didn’t exist, which makes it a culture; NOT a trend. As Bounce music becomes more mainstream and widely accepted, it’s important to remember it’s origins and highlight those who made the sounds and beats we love so iconic. If Jazz is the soul of the city and Black Indian masking is the spirit of the city, then Bounce is the heart of the city and the New Orleans Bounce Music Festival aims to showcase this vital part of Black New Orleans culture.

The 2022 New Orleans Bounce Music Festival was made possible by the Mayors Office of Cultural Economy and The Jazz & Heritage Foundation
